10 Tips and Tricks to Make Your First Paddleboard Experience a Good One

Tip 1: Get a board that is the right size for you. If you’re paddleboarding on your own, it’s important to get a board that is the right size for you. You don’t want a board that is too big or too small – it should be just right! The best way to find out what size paddleboard you need is to talk to us here, or to a knowledgeable salesperson at your local sporting goods store. We are experts in paddleboarding and will be able to help you find the perfect sized board for your height and weight.

Tip 2: Don’t forget about the accessories! In addition to finding the perfect paddleboard, you’ll also need to purchase some accessories. These include things like a life jacket, paddles, and leashes. Again, we are experts here, so ask us anything… or you can visit your local sporting goods store and they should be able to help you find the right accessories for your needs.

Tip 3: Choose the right clothing. When you’re paddleboarding, you’ll want to wear clothes that are comfortable and won’t restrict your movement. Loose-fitting shorts or a swimsuit are typically the best options. A t-shirt from our Paddleboard Junkie store is also recommended in our hot, sunny weather. You may also want to consider wearing a rash guard or wetsuit if you’re going to be paddleboarding in colder weather.

Tip 4: Don’t forget the sunscreen! No matter what time of year it is, always remember to put sunscreen on before you go out on the water. The sun’s rays can be just as strong in the winter as they are in the summer, so it’s important to protect your skin. Another reason to buy some of our merch!!!

Tip 5: Start in calm water. If you’re a beginner, it’s best to start paddleboarding in calm water. That way, you can get used to the feel of the board and the paddling motion without having to worry about waves or other obstacles. Once you feel more comfortable, you can move to more challenging waters.

Tip 6: Stay close to shore. When you’re first starting out, it’s important to stay close to shore. That way, if you fall off your board or run into trouble, it will be easier for someone to come and help you. As you become more confident in your paddleboarding skills, you can venture further from shore.

Tip 7: Be aware of your surroundings. Whenever you’re paddleboarding, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings. This means keeping an eye out for other boats, swimmers, and obstacles in the water. By being aware of your surroundings, you can avoid potential accidents.

Tip 8: Use common sense. When you’re paddleboarding, it’s important to use some basic common sense. If something doesn’t feel right or you’re not sure about something, don’t do it! It’s better to be safe than sorry when you’re out on the water.

Tip 9: Listen to your body. If you start to feel tired, take a break. Paddleboarding is a workout, so it’s important to listen to your body and rest when you need to.

Tip 10: Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is key when participating in any physical activity. Be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your paddleboard session.

By following these tips, you’ll be sure to have a great first paddleboard experience! And who knows? You might even get hooked on this fun and exciting sport! So what are you waiting for?
